From Classical Music to Visual Mastery

Born in Switzerland, of French, Italian, Jewish, and Hungarian heritage, Klinko first trained as a classical harp soloist at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, earning the Grand Prix du Disque for his recordings with members of the Paris Opera Bastille.

His early years as a concert performer refined his sense of rhythm, precision, and visual composition - qualities that now define his photographic style. After a hand injury ended his music career, he reinvented himself behind the camera, transforming his artistry into a new form of expression.

Defining Contemporary Glamour

Klinko’s work merges the worlds of fashion, fame, and fantasy. His portraits balance elegance and power, elevating celebrity imagery to the level of fine art. Collaborations with icons such as David Bowie and Iman led to some of the most recognizable album and magazine covers of the 21st century, including Beyoncé’s Dangerously in Love and Mariah Carey’s The Emancipation of Mimi.

His monograph ICONS celebrates this legacy, with exhibitions at Lincoln Center and galleries worldwide. Klinko continues to push boundaries, crafting images that are both timeless and provocative - a master of visual storytelling in the modern age.

“My goal is to create images that outlive the headlines - portraits that define not just the person, but the era they represent.”
