Lawrence Jiang was born in 1964 in a small village in Northern China. His appreciation for nature began at a young age as he was surrounded by the natural beauty of the north with its abundance of lakes, rivers, mountains and forests. In 1982 Lawrence began his travels, traversing more than 50 countries focusing on landscapes and wildlife. Witnessing firsthand how man has threatened the world’s most valuable resource through pollution,
he sought to find water in its purest form.
Iceland is home to Vatnajokull the largest ice cap in Europe. During the last 20 years the rate of glacial melt has been accelerated due to global warming; caused by our burning of fossil fuels.
Through his photography, Lawrence hopes to preserve this natural beauty for generations to come. The photographs he presents are unaltered; the vivid colours and abstract patterns are a result of the natural light from the environment and the ever changing glacial flows.
